Secret Pals on LJ 4! [Apr. 21st, 2007|11:21 am]
Garden State Knitters

[Current Mood |excitedexcited]

Hello, all. I wanted to let you know that we will soon be starting Round 4 of Secret Pal on LJ!

Click on the picture to visit the community page.

Signups will begin in the next week or so, with several more posts in the coming days to explain how the swap will work.

If you haven't heard of the Secret Pal swap before, here's the main idea: You fill out a questionnaire letting everyone know about your yarn tastes and habits. Then the spoiling begins! We spoil each other by sending yarny goodies to our pals. We (the mods) assign Secret Pals...you will be sending to someone, and someone different will be sending to you. Packages will be sent out once a month for 3 months, and the total required dollar amount is $30. Sound interesting? Check us out! Remember, signups will be starting this coming week. All are welcome!

I tend to create little summer projects for myself every summer. Last summer I got my massage therapist license at a community college and the summer before the daunting task of a sweater (which I ended up finishing before the start of my senior year, September 2005). Well this summer I decided that I was going to be the best fraturnity sweetheart ever and knit my boyfriend's fraturnity a blanket that they could hang up in the window of their house, use on their couch, or hang up on the wall of their house (which will be a brand new house by August of this year.

I'm just having alittle bit of an issue of a pattern to pick or a design to use. I definatly want to use it in the fraturnity colors (purple, green, gold), I'm at the point of indecisive-ness (not a real word but it fits!) on whether or not that I want to use the crest (http://www.lambdachi.org). I definatly want the letters on the afghan.

Any help is greatly appriecated. Ive looked online at greek stores that specilize in making blankets and the details are soo intrecet. And I have untill August to finish it. Pattern suggestions are greatly appriecated.

Thanks so much in advance!!

x-posted: alot of places!

leg warmers [Dec. 28th, 2006|04:40 pm]

[Current Mood |accomplished]

Hi! This is my first post to NJ-Knits and even though I just moved to FL my knitting roots are in Jersey ^_^ Here is a pair of leg warmers that I made for myself, the pattern, and a question about the pattern.
leg warmers
OK, i'm a beginner, so hopefully someone can help me with a question about ribbing. The pattern calls for casting on 34 stitches and to then knit a 2-stitch rib as follows:
Row 1: K2 *P2, K2 rep from *to end.
Row 2: P2 *K2, P2 rep from *to end.

Someone told me that, if I wanted to adjust the pattern, I would have to be able to divide the cast on number by 8. Is this true? and why? Thank you!

So I just joined, having seen the promo in I believe 20sknitters. I am Amanda, I live in Denville (NJ!) and I go to school in Ewing--The College of New Jersey. I'm a junior, English Secondary Education major. I first learned to knit sometime in high school (not sure when) from my grandma, and then I picked up my needles again freshman year of college. Right now I'm in a sock phase. I also just bought a crapload of Sugar n' Cream after discovering the free online copy of the dishcloth pattern from Mason-Dixon Knitting. I'm very excited about this group and hopefully we'll get lots more members soon!
